This Is When You Should Give Up On Network Marketing

I know this is a dumb question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. Have you ever felt like giving up on your network marketing business, completely? If you said no, then you were never in the game to begin with. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been ready to throw in the towel. You’ve probably had some major influencers to help you feel this way, didn’t you? Everyone from your spouse to your parents to your so-called friends planted a seed in your head to just give up.

Here’s a clue of when to stop completely: When You Give Up On Yourself. This is truly the only way you lose in this industry, and I’m not talking about losing financially. The type of loss I’m referring to is the loss of belief. People that have no belief in their ability to learn and do network marketing simply lose out.

It is extremely important to plug in to personal growth and self development. The books you read, the people you associate with and the audios that you listen to will determine who you will become and your success or failure in life. This is not just a cliche’ it’s true. Just take a look at the people that you hang around…….

Another thing you should do is to get a coach who has the success that you are seeking. Athelets have coaches, professional speakers have coaches, so having a coach in your network marketing business is no different. The network marketing industry is no more than a personal development course disguised as a business with a compensation plan attached to it.

The Study Long Study Wrong Effect

When I was in college, my friends and I spent a lot of time playing the game of Spades. I wish I could say my partner and I were unstoppable, but that wasn’t the case. We were pretty good, but we had a few buddies that would always seem to mop everyone up. Sometimes when our opponent would take a long time to throw out a card my partner and I would taunt the procrastinator and say, “study long, study wrong.” Meaning if they took too long to make a decision, it could cost them a hand or even the game.

The same is true when making a decision in network marketing. Many times you’ll get people that are interested in your business but when the time comes to “pull the trigger” they have to think about it. No one is immune to the “I have to think about it” response. Study long, study wrong. The longer they think about it, the less likely they will join you in your business. However, this is not always true, there are exceptions, but the majority of the time the person does not join. Or there may be a scenario where the person does join, but by the time they do join, several hundred or several thousand people join before them. A prime example of the study long, study wrong effect. Had that person taken action initially, they could have benefited by having those several hundred or several thousand people in his or her group.

So the next time you’re given the opportunity to join a business be sure that you’re not a victim of the study long, study wrong effect.

We Don’t Buy Houses Anymore, We Buy Gold!

That’s right folks. How many of the “We Buy Houses” signs have you seen lately? Remember a few years ago that’s all you saw. They were on the billboards, benches at the bus stops and even the little metal yard signs that went into the ground.

Well there’s been a shift in the economy, BIG TIME. We’ve seen what the housing market has done. People are losing jobs, houses getting foreclosed and some people are simply walking away from their mortgages like a bad marriage.

Have you watched your local channels lately? (I don’t suggest that you waste your time watching TV, but for sake of this article , play along with me:) Is it me, or is everybody and their mother buying gold? There are so many We Buy Gold commercials, it’s crazy. And it was such a gradual and subtle change that not many people really noticed this trend. “Send in your gold in this security-tight plastic bag and we’ll send you cash”….sound familiar to you? Even the banks are getting on the bandwagon. Think about it, do you think that the bank or the We Buy Gold guys will give you more than the value of your gold? Of course not.

But if you have cable, turn to CNN, CNBC, or MSNBC and what are they telling you to do? Exactly, purchase gold and silver. Interesting. Remember the Arsenial Hall Show? Something to make you go, “HMMMMMMM.” The higher end channels are telling you to acquire gold and silver, while the lower end channels are telling you to liquidate your gold.

At the time of this article, the value of gold is at $1,231 an ounce while the spot price of silver is $18.42. So if you know that you should be buying gold and silver, then what’s the holdup? There are three ways that you can get involved in the gold and silver business:

1. Become a jeweler and open your own jewelry store (crazy overhead)
2. Become an investor in gold and silver bullion (requires a commodities brokers license and you would be giving financial advice)
3. Become a collector in the gold and silver numismatic coin industry (numismatic is a fancy term for the study of money)

The least inexpensive way to get in the game is option #3. You don’t need a license or certificate, there’s no overhead, no employees to deal with, benefits or insurance to pay. The home-based business arena is on the rise with 200,000 people starting a business each week.

“Customer Service? I’d Like To Cancel My Monthly Autoship”

WTH? Why would anyone want to cancel their autoship? Believe it or not, if a new rep or distributor has not gotten a commission check within 67 days, you can say buh-bye to that volume on your team because they are calling customer service and canceling their autoship and possibly their distributorship. Believe it or not approximately 87% of new network marketers cancel their autoship because it becomes a bill to them if they’re not making any money.

Here are the three main reasons that reps cancel their autoship:

#1. They simply can’t afford it. For the average household, a $200-$300 autoship is just not feasible for them.

How To Take MLM Spam And Junk Mail Messages And Turn Them Into A Tidal Wave Of New Reps For Your Business

Embrace spamNo, not that type of spam, but you get my point right:-) Here’s a great article that was written by a good friend of mine. The reason I liked this article is because it’s a unique strategy that most marketers would never think about. The author of this article, Larry Beacham, has over 15 years of network marketing experience and is a master internet marketer. He has helped over 1,000 people build their network marketing businesses and he hosts a live weekly webinar that gives a lot of value to MLMers in any company. Here’s Larry’s article:

Did you delete a gigantic amount of MLM spam messages today (like I did) from idiots trying to shove their business down your throat? In this article, I’m going to tell you how I flip this Tsunami of junk mail into a cash cow for myself, and how you can, too.

1. Read it – I know that sounds ridiculous and a huge time waster, but there might be a nugget of gold in there for you. Believe it or not, the problem isn’t WHAT they are marketing; it’s HOW they are marketing. So, while everyone else is irritated and mad about it and blindly delete it, do the opposite. Quickly skim through it to see if there’s some value in there.

2. Glean the value – Some of this junk mail has videos, free downloads, ebooks, etc. that you can use as leverage to establish YOUR OWN VALUE. I have a book called Psychological Triggers that has done wonders for my understanding of how to get people to take action. Guess where I discovered that book?

3. Repackage it – Did you know that some of the world’s leading brands were once poorly packaged and couldn’t sell very much of their goods? It wasn’t until someone who was smart enough to understand color scheme, wording, layout and a host of other things came along and “fixed” what was wrong. Packaging DOES matter. If you look at certain brands in the U.S. and then look at how they are packaged in other countries, you’ll better understand what I mean. Simply put, if you know how your audience likes to take in information, then repackage that value and distribute it.

4. SELL VALUE – You may be struggling to get people to look at your opportunity, and the main reason is because you’re selling the wrong thing. For example, if you put out a message that says, “Tonight at 8pm, I’m going to be talking about Pre-Paid Legal (assuming this is your company) and how you can make money. Register here:,” ABSOLUTELY NOBODY WILL SHOW UP!!! It doesn’t matter the company; if you push this approach, expect to have a lot of empty “seats.” Now, if you were to take that information that you received from the spam message, repackage it and sell the VALUE OF IT, here’s how that would look: “Tonight at 8pm, I’m going to be demonstrating a new software program that locates top income earners from fallen MLM companies looking for a new company.” You’ll have 150 people show up. Why? Anyone with half a brain would want to find and locate PROVEN TOP PRODUCERS for their opportunity and this is a unique training with awesome potential. Now you have 150 hungry people at your webinar gleaning the value of that spam. Cool right?

If you’re a savvy network marketer, with an audience of 150 people who have just fallen in love with your value, you would be smart to transition to your opportunity. So, here’s how this could sound: “Thank you all for coming to this training on how to find top producers from fallen MLM opportunities. If you’re involved in a company that you’re 100% sold out to and not looking, you can go ahead and leave. For those of you who would like some additional value, I’ll be sharing my recommendation on a company that gives you the best chance to pull the most reps with this new technique.” Here’s what’s funny about doing this – usually less than 10% will leave! The power of curiosity is something to be reckoned with. When was the last time you had nearly 100 prospects in front of your opportunity? You can send a “thank you” message to the spammer for giving you the necessary tools to get them there. Open your mind to the possibilities of spam – it could mean 10 new reps per month!

Buyer’s Remorse Isn’t Limited To The Mall

Ever been to the mall and spent a lot of money on clothes? What about the purchase of a big ticket item like a car? Have you purchased a high-priced airline ticket? Whatever it was that you bought, did you feel any remorse afterwards? You may have even taken that purchase back after the guilt kicked in.

Well joining a network marketing company is no different. Picture you and your prospect at your business opportunity meeting and he or she is excited about what they just saw and heard. You sign them up in the company and you and your upline do a brief training with them. They go home all pumped up and excited and then the next day here’s what happens……

Nope, they don’t call you up, you call them and get their voicemail. Then you email them because you can’t reach them on the phone. So a day goes by without you talking to your new business partner. Day two rolls around and you try to call them up again and the same thing that happened on day one, happens on day two. Now we’re at day number three, once again no contact. So you go to your company’s back office and you notice that that new rep that you signed up the other night has canceled their distributorship. Say it with me….. “WTH?”

Now a number of things could have happened: their significant other could have talked them out of it or maybe they tried to explain it to their friends (if they were quick start trained properly, this wouldn’t have happened). For the sake of this article, let’s say the person simply had buyers remorse. So you finally get in touch with that “former” rep and they tell you that they changed their mind (wow, there’s a news flash). They’ve got too much going on, they have too much credit card debt, they don’t want to take on too much more, they’re too busy. Any of these sound familiar?

Understand that buyer’s remorse comes with the territory, so what do you do? Well the one thing you don’t want to do is to convince folks to stay because when you do, then you’ll have to convince them to get on conference calls, attend events, register for webinars, etc. You may as well work at a daycare if that’s the case.

The thing that you do want to have is more leads than you have time. This is how you overcome this. So when something like this occurs, you have others leads in your pipeline that you can talk to about your business opportunity. Most network marketers do not have a system that allows for free leads, which is one of the main reasons why the bail out if they don’t earn a check in a few months. The average network marketer has a 63-day window to generate a check. After that, they’re gone…

So don’t get discouraged when buyer’s remorse sets in with your new rep. My suggestion to you is to K.I.M. Keep It Moving!

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do – Transitioning To A New Company

If you’ve never done this before, don’t worry it’s coming. That is if you have sold out to network marketing. I’m not referring to those that “stick their toe in it.” If you’ve experienced transitioning to a new company before, then you know how difficult it can be (for some). Many people get emotionally attached to the company, the product, the leadership, etc. ….trust me, I can relate. But what makes us move in the first place? Well I’ve found three reasons for “the breakup” and hope that it will help you should you get ready to cross that bridge.

  • Out of Business. Well reason #1 is an obvious one and a no-brainer, the company folds. That’s right, not too many companies are immune to the realization of this. You have leadership (or so you thought) that often times has themselves in mind and not the distributors that represent the company. This is why it’s so important to do your due diligence about a company and even the top leaders (reps) within that company.

  • But It’s A Ground-Floor Company. This is a good one here. Currently there are over 4,800 network marketing companies in the industry and over 40% of them are in the health and wellness industry. That’s mainly because people are more health conscious now than they were years ago. If you’re a 70s/80s baby, you know darn well McDonalds did not serve salads, now did they? Now you scratch your head trying to decide which salad you should choose. Most of the companies that pop up are in the health and wellness industry, but again, I encourage you to do your homework before joining start ups and pre-launch companies. Most startups fail within a few years, it ‘s just a fact. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with them because all companies started at one point, right?

  • Follow The Leader. This, in my opinion, is the #1 reason that people change network marketing companies, PERIOD! Why do you think that so many people have jumped on the bandwagon with the Trump Network? Because of Donald Trump, right (I’m not endorsing his company, just an example:-). They associate “The Don” with success. I was involved with a group that within a year it was the fastest growing team in the company and today, I’ve aligned myself yet again with a team that’s the fastest growing team within it’s company. So I say that to say that people follow people, not companies. This is really HUGE because when you can brand yourself, you can basically write your own ticket and you will have an enormous following. Don’t believe me, just ask Oprah!

    I’m sure there are other reasons like the company changed management, the comp plan was modified, it changed it’s structure from a multilevel marketing company to a direct sales company. But I feel that the top three that I explained above are pretty important. So treat the idea of moving to another company like a school, you have to do your research!
